Back Again!

Hello everyone, Camp is still in full swing! I have been working a crazy amount of hours. On my off time I am putting in time on the Big Show, which is Grease. They made me an assistant director, so all my off time goes into that. I am finally getting a day off on Wednesday and me and another nurse are going to the beach, which I cannot wait for! I have to go pick up a counselor today from the hospital, he fainted and landed on his face and broke his jaw. I took the fairy over to the island camp last night and hung out at their huge fire that they had going. They continue this scary story every night over there with the campers about how some woodsman 7 years ago murdered all these children at this campsite, and then at the end of the summer they take them to this campsite. Apparently it is a pretty big deal. I am hoping that I get to go see Mike soon. I looked it up and we are only 2 hours apart so I think I need to. More fun

Hello there,
Everything seems to be going well. We seem to be getting increasingly more busy. We took our first patient to the ER the other day, it was a counselor, and I had to ride in the back of the van with him to make sure he was stable while we drove. It felt like the ambulance again. But me and the driver were are the hospital for 8 hours with him and then finally came back to camp. The counselor who went in is at home now, but he will be returning shortly hopefully. Then the next morning another counselor got sent to the ER and it has been non-stop since. I am so tired. But the director came up to me and said how great of a job that I am doing and that he was very impressed with my skills during the emergency with the first counselor. Other than not much has happened. I went on a sailing trip today with the kids, first time sailing! It was so much fun. I saw way too many little kids butts though, because they felt it was funny to see if they could moon me over and over. Got gross after a while. I did receive an awesome care package from mom yesterday. It made my day. It is roasting hot here today and everyone seems to be melting. I am supposed to finally have my first day off tomorrow!!!!! I see some sleeping in in my future. Well I hope everyone is doing well and having a good summer :)

Hello all! Camp is still going well but very very busy. Today was more a laid back day, but very hot. I went canoing the other day again, I LOVE IT! I have been doing a lot of other things besides nursing. I sewed a costume for this indian tribe and then they put me on costumes for MTV night, which is like this talent show type. But it is fun to be doing something different. I have not had a day off yet, but I will be soon having one I am sure. I am using my EMT/First responder stuff a lot, and they have me in charge of a lot of medical emergency equipment and I am the one to go to all the Emergencies. Anyways, this is short, but I have a patient and dinner to get to talk to you all later.

Another day

Hello again all,

It is very warm here today and a few kids started arriving this evening! I was excited. But there is a lot of work to be done in the infirmary. I am very sore today, because like a crazy idiot I went on this huge hike on wednesday that about killed me, and now I am paying for it. I am still shocked that I made it to the top, it was so hard. Camp will be in full swing tomorrow which will be a good thing as we are all getting very eager. There is not much else going on here, except that I have a sun burn so bad that it sticks to the sheets when I sleep and have been putting aloe on like a crazy person. Well I better get back to working, I hope that everyone is doing well. Miss you!

Hello everyone,
I am here enjoying the weather in New Hampshire. It is very sunny and hot today, but that is not what it has been. Yesterday you would have thought we were flooding with the amount of rain we had. Things have been going well here and been staying busy. The kids have not arrived yet, but they will start to on Friday. We have just been doing orientation all week long. And organizing all the medical files which is such a tast because people are getting so confused and frustrated and there are so many missing files. Tomorrow is our first day off, and I think that I am going to be with the trip that goes to the beach in Maine, and portland. I canoed for the fist time the other day. Then on Saturday we all had to pass an intensive swim test, which I was very nervous for, but I did well in. Given that some boys didn't pass, and they are all athletes, I was pleased. I have met a lot of very nice people here and am having a very fun time. Thinking of you all.

First Day

Hello everyone,
I started this again because of my relatives asking me to. I have been at camp now for a little over a day. I am located in New Hampshire this summer off of lake Winnepesake (?). So far it is very quiet as there are not too many people here. We are just doing some organizing and cleaning and I settled into my room. I share a room with two other girls, so far a girl named Olivia from England, whose boyfriend also came here with her. Then some other girl that won't get here for a few more days. This camp is a little different because there is a main campus and an island camp. The island camp has the older kids and has about 150 campers. The main camp (where I am) is about the same but is all the younger kids. There are two infirmarys, so in ours on the main camp it is just me, a nurse who is from south africa and was in the peace core for 10 years and another nurse. There is a doctor but not all the time, they said that the nurses can do the sutures too!!! Which I hope to do before the end of summer, we will see. They are letting me do a lot this summer and the nurse that I am working with is very nice. The infirmary is very homey, it has a couch with a tv and then the sick kids stay in a totally seperate room, where there is about 6 beds to the room for overnight sick kids. I also will have to do two nights a week on call, which will be fun. Last night the group went to a movie and tonight we are doing a wal-mart trip which is very much needed because our bathroom in the infirmary has no bathmat and I almost killed myself yesterday. Anyways, I hope that everyone is having a warm summer as it is only 60 degrees and raining here. Speak soon XxXx
